About DJ Cold Duck

Most of the songs you will find here are remixes, re-edits and quasi-original pieces of music I have done over the years. I’ve loved the 12″ and CD single for as long as I can remember, and have an extensive catalog always in mind of favorite DJs and their remixes. My own versions have been created only for the fun of it, and they’re intended just for fun–although fun can be quite potent.

A list of favorite remix producers of mine might become endless, but here’s few folks whose work I’ve found inspirational (and very fun to listen and/or dance to):

Josh Gabriel & Dave Dresden

Francois Kevorkian

Tom Moulton

Larry Levan

Danny Krivit

John Luongo

Junior Vasquez

Peter Rauhofer

Timo Mass

Morgan Page

Ralphi Rosario

Gui Boratto

Eric Kupper

Brothers In Rhythm

The Scumfrog

Armin van Buuren

John Creamer & Stephane K

Above & Beyond

Tom Middleton

Dave Aude

Victor Calderone

Max Graham

Danny Tenaglia

My professional background includes a Ph.D. in History, a M.A. in Latin American Studies, several years broadcasting at non-commercial radio stations and retailing music, as well as a scary summer of DJing at weddings and middle school parties.

All of my mixes and re-edits were made possible by the perceptive generosity of Dante Corbitt, who gave me a copy of MixMeister years ago. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize just how special a gift it was until after we lost Dante, so really this site is as much in his honor as anyone else’s.

Levan’s remix of “I Got My Mind Made Up” by Instant Funk was the first remix I ever encountered, and it literally changed my life. Blessings back at you,

Love your Ginsberg Piece and Laurie Anderson. Do you sell your work or share it for download?

    bless you!

Thanks for the love! I don’t sell any of this stuff, since many of my remixes/re-edits could be interpreted as being violations of copyright. For the same reason, the only items I offer for download are those I made using files which artists/labels have posted expressly for free download and fan remixing. However, you might find Freecorder a useful bit of software…, at least until artistic ideas and works can be freely shared without legal repercussion. [Speech over, soapbox may be replaced.]
